Loading... OBITUARY OF CAPT SAMUEL JOHNSON: Johnson, S. J.: Capt. S. J. Johnson Dead. Capt S. J. Johnson, died at his home in White county last Friday. He had been in good health up to a short while before his death, when he complained of an uncomfortable feeling in the region of the heart, and in a short time, he was stricken. The trouble was pronounced dropsy of the heart. Capt Johnson was one of the best known men in this part of the state. He was a gentlemen of the high order, an industrious, progressive and prosperous farmer. He was a Captain in the Confederate army, in which capacity he won distinction for his gallantry and ability. His untimely end will be deeply deplored by a large number of friends and relatives. He was the father of Miss Lee Johnson of this place. 1900, Vol. XIV, No. 3, Page: 4] THE COOKEVILLE PRESS.
