Notes |
- Notes for Joseph Schultz:
JOSEPH SCHULTZ
Joseph Schultz was a fine carpenter and lived in the Los Angeles area most if not all of his life. Loving, gentle, kind and soft spoken would describe Uncle Joe. He loved a good laugh. He and Ora built their own homes and loved each other dearly. When Joe and Ora were married Joe was a bread salesman...they lived in Chula Vista, California - it is unknown when they moved to the Los Angeles, California area. Their last home being in Yucaipa, California 92415. They were in the Chula Vista area by 1924, coming from Lawrence Co., Arkansas. "Joe" passed away in November 1969 while one a trip to Arkansas. On that last fateful trip, they were way back in the mountains and "Joe" had a heart attack and died. His beloved "Ora" never recovered from the lost of her "Joe." Joe was cremated and is at Desert Lawn Cemetery, Calimesa, California
NOTE: Information from Kay Butcher and John Henry Ruffner - letter in possession of Kay Butcher.
Kay's Memories of Uncle Joe:
My fondest memory as a little girl was that Uncle Joe made me the most beautiful wood cradle for my dolls. It was painted light pink. He was a master carpenter and had build at least two of their homes.
I think one of the most humorous things I remember was that Uncle Joe was extremely deaf and wore hearing aids. They were the kind that had a wire that ran to a box and the box would fit into a pocket. Aunt Ora would get to going on Uncle Joe and he would sit there and take it for so long. Before long Uncle Joe reached down in his shirt pocket and turned off his hearing aid. Aunt Ora just kept right on and never noticed.
