Biography
Burke and Banks says that he was the son and heir of Richard Peche, Lord of Wormleighton, co Warwick, in right of is mother, Petronelle, daughter and heir of Richard Walsh. Richard married Hawise, daughter and heir of William Arden, who held the manor of Hampton in Arden.
John (born c 1285) thus held the manor of Hampton in Arden, Warwickshire, as ½ knight's fee in 1299. He was Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports from 1323 to 1324 under Edward II, and died about 1339.
John Peche and his first wife had five sons, John, Knt., Nicholas, Knt. (of Hampton-in-Arden and Honiley, Warwickshire), Edmund, Ralph, and Thomas, Knt. (of Shenington, Oxfordshire).He married (2nd) in or before 1326 Eleanor, widow of Ralph de Gorges, Knt., 1st Lord Gorges. She was living in July 1341.
His grandson, Sir John Peche, died in 1376, leaving a son [Peche-44| John]. John was 15 at his father's death, so born 1361. He died in Spain in 1387 leaving a widow, Katherine, and two young daughters, Joan aged 2¾, and Margaret, who was only one day old. Katherine held the manor for life (still alive in 1411). After her death it passed to her daughter, Margaret and her husband Sir William de Mountfort of Coleshill.
