    • Founding Elder of the Old Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church:

      The Joseph Cummings that is recorded as an Elder in Old Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1811 would have been Joseph Cummings "Sr." (1762-1853) - who came to the area of the Caney Fork River - now White & Van Buren Counties - around 1805. He was born in Faquier County, Virginia and lived for a while in the area of Henry/Patrick Counties, Virginia. He was a soldier in the American Revolution. He is buried in the Stony Point Cemetery in Van Buren County, Tennessee. [2]
