  Birth: Jun. 9, 1881 White County Tennessee, USA Death: Apr. 24, 1965 North Little Rock Pulaski County Arkansas, USA My Grandfather - Silas was born in Tennessee as were his father and grandfather before him. As a young man he went north to Minnesota and South Dakota working as a chef for many places. He registered for the military during WWI but was not called to duty. He married Hannah Ericka O'Brink and had 3 children in Minnesota. Their oldest died as a toddler in a tragic house fire. Silas and Hannah eventually separated and he married his second wife, Martha Elaine Wiitala. They had 6 children together. In the early 50's, Silas and his second family moved closer to his roots and settled in Arkansas. He lived out his remaining years there.
