Our family could be descendents of a famous doctor who served in the Revolutionary War named Dr. William Rickman known best as the first Director of Hospitals of the Continental Army during the war. This title would later evolve into the position of Surgeon General. The Doctor first married a Katherine and had several children, Phoebe is not mentioned but it is possible she could have been his child. Later he married Pres. William Harrison's sister Elizabeth Harrison and had no children with her. Phoebe's husband Thomas Holland did spend some time in a hospital during the war and there he could have met the doctor's daughter or niece, but lots of could haves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Rickman An interesting note is that one of Phoebe and Thomas' son's first name was Harrison. One of their sons was named Benjamin who could have been named after Elizabeth Harrison's father. Another Son was named William who could be named after Elizabeth's brother Willian, though he is not named William Henry. Interesting but no proof.
Another possibility is that she came from the Thomas Rickman family, THOMAS RICKMAN (SAMUEL1) was born 1720, and died March 12, 1761 in Halifax Co., Virginia. He married UNKNOWN. She could be a daughter of one of his sons. http://tntcarden.com/tree/ensor/Rickman.html
But for now she still remains a mystery.

I don't have their marriage record although I do Know they were married in 1779 in Nansemond County from family records shared from other descendents. I do know there is record of she and Thomas selling land in Washington County, VA in 1790. This was prior to their move to GA. I hope this helps. I know how hard it is to make sure the right pieces are put into the puzzle. Take care, Judy
PS: Phoebe's middle name is listed as "Winburn".
