I believe we have a connection. Joseph C. Rhae, Jr. wrote a book in 1969 entitled "Ray-Rhea - A family book of Historical and Genealogy for Rhea and Related Families. I found it in the Alabama Archives Library in Montgomery.
According to this book John Rhea, b 1760 married ca 1785 to Mary DeLoach.
Children: Paphry (Popia) Rhea 1790 - Married in 1813 to Elias Breazeale (Brezal), Children Nancy and Mary Katherine (Mar 15 1815 - 1899).
Note: John Rhea b. 1773 according to Ed Foley's info. Another child Mary Rhea married John Buckingham, Child Mary Rhea (who married Gen John Greer)
I descend through Mary Rhea and John Greer.
I am so glad to find someone who connects to my line.

I find this posting very interesting as John Rae/Ray of Warren Co., TN., apparently had a daughter named Mary who married a Brazeal/Brezzal. I don't know his given name. She is shown as one of the aunts of Dicy Ray, daughter of Aaron Ray and granddaughter of John Ray. In the various
records Ray has been spelled many different ways, i.e., Rhea, Ray, Rae, etc., but seem to be all the same family. Don't you think these spellings are very close to your Brazell?
The name of this Mary Brezzal is shown in the Mormon Baptism of the Dead records as an aunt of Dicy Ray who is a known daughter of Aaron Ray who was born in Patrick Co., VA., and Aaron is the son of the John Rae/Ray of Warren Co., TN.
Shown also in this same Mormon record is Nancy Ray Cooper and Fanny Ray York who are a known daughters of John Rae of Warren Co., TN., and Nancy is buried in the same cemetery as this John Rae as is Mary Brazeal.

I am looking on info on Phereba Ray/Rhea. For short, I will call her Pherby. She is my ggggreat grandmother. I think that she was born before 1800 in Va. She married Elias Brasseale in Warren County, Tn on July 5, 1810. I got that from Elias' pension application from War of 1812. Elias was in William Chism's Militia from Warren County, Tn.
Elias is from the BRASWELL family.
Pherby and Elias moved to Blount County, Al before 1830. The children are Mary, William H., James Willis, John Sherwood, Nancy and Elias DeLoach Brasseale. Brasseale is the way their last name was spelled in Alabama.
I have not been able to find the parents of Pherby. Please, someone help me...
Thankyou,
Tony
