- Rock Island resident and Warren County native Franklin Dee Boren, 69, was born Jan. 18, 1939 and died June 10 at his residence following an extended illness.
A retired nurseryman and member of Pleasant Cove Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Delbert and Willie Mae Harper Boren. He was married to Emma Dell Wright, who preceded him in death May 22, 1991. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Boren; granddaughter, Elaine Walker and two brothers, James and Roy Boren.
He is survived by five children and their spouses, Debra Ann and James Inman of Camden, Diana Jean Ferrell of Smithville, Richard Dee Boren of Nashville, and Betty Mae and Jason Bouldin, and Lisa Annette and Gary Hillis, both of Rock Island; five stepdaughters and their spouses, Teresa and Billy Jones and Delita Dodson, all of Morrison, and Karen and Joe Curtis, Sheila and Dwayne Brown, and Deana and William Hudson, all of McMinnville; 16 grand-children and six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Curtis, Ray and Herman Boren, all of Rock Island, Marvin Boren of McMinnville and Lynn Boren of Morrison; four sisters, Betty Moore, Brenda Hawkins and Opal Hartman, all of McMinnville, and Linda Redmon of Rock Island; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Rufus Ballew of Rock Island.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today in High's Chapel with Ray Weddington officiating. Burial will follow at New Bybee Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service today at High's. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or New Bybee Cemetery Fund.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
