- HAUGHTON, LA -
Funeral services for Frank Byas Staton, 78, will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004 at First Baptist Church of Haughton. Rev. Melton Prothro will officiate, assisted by Bro. Gevan Spinney.
Interment will follow at Fillmore Cemetery, Haugh- ton, LA.; Funeral home visitation will be Thursday, June 24, 2004 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funer- al Home in Bossier City.
Mr. Staton passed away June 22, 2004 in Shreveport, LA after a courageous fight with Alzheimers. He was born in Haughton, LA and was Assistant County Agent in Bienville Parish for two years before becoming a Teacher at Haughton High School where he taught Agriculture for 32 years. He was a leader and one to look to as a Christian example.
He was a 1949 graduate of LSU in Baton Rouge and earned his Master's Degree from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX in 1959.
Mr. Staton was a longtime member of First Baptist Church cf Haughton and served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher of young boys and loved serving in many capacities. He loved his churchfamily and was always willing to do anything asked of him until later years when his health began to fail.
He was also a member of Blue Lodge #95 of Haughton.
Frank really loved his family and had celebrated his 50th anniversary in November of 2003 with his dear love and companion, Murriel.
He is survived by his wife, Murriel Staten; sons, Jody Staten and wife, Robin, Herschel Staton all oi Haughton, LA; daughters, Brenda S. Futrell and husband, Robert of Deville, LA, Frankie S. Paulk and husband, Barry of Pineville, LA; sister, Jewel Eady of Stafford, AZ and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Haughton.
