Notes |
- September 29, 2015:
Hey David Thanks. I appreciate any help or advice you can provide. I am determined to continue my Turner Search. I am not sure if the event occurred with William Thomas Turner's father or a few generations prior to that.
According to the DNA matches that I have found and confirmed, it looks like our Turner line originated in Maryland. Tom's Aunt matches a female Turner there. We match FOX surname who were in Virginia, Shannendoah, Warren, Culpepper counties. Those Virginia counties are across the border and over the Potomac River into Maryland. The Maryland Counties of Charles and St. Mary's.
I also wanted to tell you: DNA wise, we do not match Samuel Turner b. 1790 (Grp 39 Rose Turner DNA Group) But we do match his mother Elizabeth Sukie Dillard Turner. I have several DNA matches with Tom's Aunt.
I have to believe that we are not Turner's beyond William Thomas Turner or one more generation back. But we might have been the descendants of a FEMALE Turner.
I Have all my kiddies today, I will try to call you tonight after I get off of work at about 6:00 pm AZ Mountain time. We have to be at least two to three hours time difference. Is that okay?

David,
Before we chat I wanted to tell you about Elizabeth Sukie Dillard m. Rev. John Turner b. 1755 d. 1823 Yellow Creek, Dickson, Tennessee not John Turner b. 1738 d. 1813 Spartanburg. Tom's Aunt B. F. matches at least two through DNA. I intend to continue the search on this line and the Dillards. The Dillards were in Culpeper and I think that is where the Surname change occurred. I will share it with you after I look it over and clean it up.
I don't agree with the records you have gathered for her on your Hennessee page. I think the information has changed since you recorded it. I went to Find a grave and double checked. Those records don't match with what I have and F-A-Grave doesn't list any wife (Elizabeth Sukie Dillard) for John Turner b. 1738-1813.
I think someone had assumed that Elizabeth Sukie Dillard was John's (Spartanburg) wife but has removed that information.
At this point I am not interested in the below families.
Also: and I have no idea which is correct.... but I have your No. #15321 John Turner b. 1738 Ref that you show married to Rebecca McMehen I have him married to Rebekah Gimblett. From there some of the information is combined. Children are shared and will information is the same. One record lists John Turner's birth as abt 1738 Spartanburg and the other b. 1765 Newton, South Carolina this one with a marriage to Rebekah Gimblett on 20 Apr 1790 in Chester South Carolina.
I was never interested in this John except as a possible father to our William Thomas Turner b. 1804. I did not do the research and I did not follow up on the information that I received. There were no children named William Thomas or Thomas b. 1804 and the William that was there was born in 1759 impossible for our Turner ancestor.
