I am uncertain about order of Dorothy's marriages and the fathers of her children. Much confussion among assorted family members and Dorothy's siblings, with none of responses matching the others. A few years (mid 1990's) ago Dorothy Williams Matkin attended a Keller family reunion at Shorty Keller's house at Tom Bean in Fannin Co., TX. During the course of her stay in Grayson and Fannin Counties, Texas, Dorothy also visited with other Hennessee and Keller relatives living in the area. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but Dorothy and those assorted family members got into a "huff" over a computer software issue and some problems involving her RV. She left very unhappy; family members in the area were not exactly thrilled when her name came up. Little could be learned about Dorothy or where to find her - not even from Shorty and his wife, who are highly regarded by others. Dorothy has an extensive genealogy database. I'm told some of her research differs from family history I've been given orally and via emails, etc. I'd very much like to speak with her and compare her records to my database. rahw Nov. 11, 1998.
In 2002 I spoke with Dorothy. As soon as I explained who I was she quickly informed me that she did not want to have anything to do with "anyone who had communicated with the family members in Texas." After explaining (at length) that in the 1990's I was in Virginia and not Texas and that I had not attended the "reunion" in Grayson Co., TX, she relunctantly began to discuss Keller-Sturdivant - Hennessee-Williamson family genealogy with me. She had not known that G.W. Keller was a galvanized soldier. She was very much interested in the CSA/Union Navy records I've found at the National Archives. She was also interested in the records that Shorty Keller's daughter had shared with me ref. Julia Sturdivant Keller's application for Cherokee lands. It was then that she "opened" up and began to discuss the Hennessee-Williamson families with me. She had very STRONG feelings, thoughts and an interesting perspective about the the relationship between Shorty Thompson and Julia Hannah Williamson. [1]
