  Charles was born the son of the late Jess Eli and Grace Lee Fults Slaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Hughey and J.E. Slaughter and four sisters, Lodema Slaughter, Geneva Smartt, Alma Barnes and Laura Smartt. He was married June 13, 1953 to Peggy J. Slaughter of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Robert Thompson and Mary Ann and Rickey Cox both of McMinnville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles David and Shannon Slaughter of Rock Island, TN and Hugh Gerald and Sherry Slaughter of McMinnville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Hallie and Jewell Warren, Eva Nell and G.D. Bess, Frances Butcher and Wilma Brock all of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Hattie Dean Slaughter of McMinnville and ten grandchildren, Joshua, Kelley, Beth, Emaly, Hollie, Jesse, Chris, Zack, Gavin and Braelin,and a host of friends.
