Tullahoma resident and Coffee County native Charles B. McBride, 69, died Sept. 22 at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo. A 1951 graduate of Central High in McMinnville, he completed pre-pharmacy at MTSU and received his degree from the Tennessee College of Pharmacy in Memphis in 1954. He worked at Crouch Drug Store from 1954 through 1961 and then at the Medical Art Pharmacy in Greenville, S.C., Westside Drugs in Tullahoma. He became co-owner of the Medical Building Pharmacy, Taylor's Pharmacy and Medical Arts Pharmacy from 1971 until 1995, when he sold the business to and was employed by Revco and CVS Pharmacy until his retirement in 2001. Since his retirement, he worked part-time at Westside Pharmacy in Tullahoma and McGee's Pharmacy in Shelbyville.
The son of Lucille Rogers McBride of McMinnville and the late Isaac Buford McBride, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Melba Joe Warren McBride; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Eddie Hodge, Melanie and Robie Holt, all of Tullahoma, Debbie and Bailey Ragan of Chesterfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Brittany and Alison Hodge, Jason, Jamie and Beth Ragan, Cortney, Whitney, Chad and April Holt; sisters, Margaret Allen of Manchester, Shirley Durham of McMinnville and Brenda Wachter of Emerald Isle, N.C.; and brothers, James and Johnny McBride, both of Tullahoma and Bobby McBride of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Ernest Laws and Philip Davis officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Tullahoma Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
