- Britton Williams Snipes was the son of Thomas and Martha B. (Williams) Snipes. He married Elizabeth Clegg 12 Feb. 1816 in Chatham Co., NC.
They had 14 children: James, John, Thomas, Martha, Margaret, Elizabeth, Charles, Elizabeth (1st Elizabeth died), Britton, Nancy, Benjamin, Bethiah, Sarah, and Cynthia. It was ironic that although he did not believe in slavery or owning slaves, he was killed by Union army deserters on 17 Feb. 1864....Lori Snipes King [2]
