- Mildred Rose Frugâe Hennessee, 91, of Katy, Texas, and a former long time resident of Meridian, passed away from this life into eternity to be with her Lord Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Meridian First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Meridian Cemetery.
Mildred was born in Iota, La., to the late Ernest and Marie Simon Frugâe. Mildred grew up in Louisiana and was married in Crowley, La. on Nov. 20, 1938, to Doyle Winston Hennessee. Together, they lived in Louisiana, Florida, and Arizona before moving to Meridian where her husband "Doc" was the local veterinarian. Mildred was a homemaker, mother, businesswoman and active in her church, Meridian First Baptist. Along with raising her four children, Mildred also kept books and helped run her husband's practice; and in later years she bought and ran the local variety store. Those that knew her know that she was not one to sit still for very long and her gregarious personality was infectious. In fact, many in her small, close-knit community of Meridian, would comment that "one could usually 'hear' Mildred before you actually 'saw her' because of her outgoing and vivacious disposition and attitude toward life!
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, who died in their 50th year of marriage, in 1988.
Survivors include her children, Doylene and Bob Perry, of Houston, Gary and Carol Hennessee, of Katy, Don and Phyllis Hennessee, of Driftwood, and David and Becky Hennessee, of Palestine; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Lila Lee Broussard, of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Emery Frugâe and Rodney Frugâe, both of Lake Charles, La.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
