John was the son of Jack Byars and Martha Daniel Byars.
He was the spouse of Louisa Byars.

PASSES TODAY
John A. Byars, 92, one of Lawrence County's oldest and best citizens, died at his home two miles north-west of town this morning following a brief illness.
Mr. Byars was born in Jefferson County, moved as a young man to Franklin County where he lived many years before moving to Lawrence County about 1903. While in Franklin, Mr. Byars was active in policics and served two terms in the state legislature as representative of his county. He also served as a delegate in the constitutional convention of 1901.
During the years since coming to Lawrence County he has devoted his time to farming.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Louisa Byars, with whom he has lived for more than 73 years, and the the following sons, and daughters, J.D.L. Byars, Snow Hill, Ala., James W. Byars, Russellville, George D. Byars, Moulton, Mrs. Mary Walker, Elgin Texas, Mrs. L.E. Hurst, Decatur, Mrs. Dora Stansel, Texokla, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Carrie Barker of Moulton, Rt. 4. There are 56 grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren living. There are many friends of this venerable old gentleman who regret to learn of his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted by Robt. B. Henderson Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the family cemetery near the residence. Burial will be directed by Underwood of Russellville.

JOHN A BYARS CALLED TODAY -
John Andrew Byars, 91, one of Lawrence County's oldest and most widely known citizens, died at 9 o'clock this morning at his home, Moulton, Route 2.
Funeral rites will be conducted at the residence at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon and burial will take place in the family cemetery.
Mr. Byars is survived by his widow and the following children: J.D.L. Byars, James W. Byars, Sheriff George D. Byars of Lawrence County; Mrs. Mary Walker, Elgin, Texas; Mrs. Dora Stansel, Texola, Okla; Mrs. Carrie Baker, Moulton; 14 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren, a number of great-great grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Byars moved from Franklin County, place of his birth, to Lawrence County 40 years ago and has been one of the section's most substantial and outstanding citizens.
He was engaged in extensive agricultural pursuing in Lawrence County for nearly a half century.
