"Aug. 5, 1848
We the undersigned free holders of DeKalb Cunty having been informed that we were appointed by the county at Sept. term 1846 to lay off a years provisions for ELIZABETH BYARS, widow of HERALD BYARS, dec'd. and being requested to attend at the late residence of the dec'd. for the purposes on the day of Sale of the estate of said dec'd., we met on the 3rd Oct. 1846 and proceeded to set apart for her use and family so much of the provisions on hand, etc. as was to be Sufficient in our opinion to serve them one year from the time of her husband's death.
We set apart for said purpose twenty barels(sic) of corn, four hundred pounds of pork, two hundred pounds of flower, one hundred pounds of Salt, twenty pounds of coffee, twenty five pounds of sugar, five dollars to buy sundries, one cow and calf, five hundred tines of fodder, thirty pokes of picked cotton, ten pounds of wool, upper & under leather for three pairs of Shoes for the widow.
We authorize the administrator to lay in such of the above specified Items as may note upon hand. August 5th 1848.
