- Covington, Tennessee - GEORGE W. JONES, JR., 64, retired Ground Safety Manager 164th Airlift Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard of Memphis, member of First United Methodist Church, served as Finance Committee Chairman of the Covington Historial Commission, and member of Covington Country Club, died February 18, 2008 at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday; and funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20 at Maley-Yarbrough Chapel. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 25 in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Memphis.
He leaves his wife, Sue Kathryn Whipple Jones of Covington; two daughters, Jennifer Jones Winkler of Union City and Julie Jones Ford of Knoxville; a son, Jeffrey Winston Jones of Covington; a sister, Sue Jones Kidd of Kissimmee, FL; a brother, Charles Jones of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Laura Ashley Cochran, Matthew Ford, Anna Kathryn Ford, Elizabeth Ford, Kate Ford, and Parker Winston Jones.
