    • ...David Smith was my great, great, great grandfather. I descend from David & Susan through their son Gilbert W. Smith who married Amanda Teeter. I have done research on them, however, I have not found anything on David before he went to Bledsoe/Sequatchie County, TN. I also descend from another Smith family in Bledsoe County and I have been unable to find a connection between these Smith families.

      My great grandmother, Elizabeth "Betsy" Smith, daughter of Gilbert W & Amanda (Teeters) married James Lafayette Smith. I have not found where Gilbert W or Amanda are buried. Two of their daughter's are buried in the Old Union Cemetery in Sequatchie County, north of Dunlap. I found some old records from Sequatchie County and it appears to me that the Old Union Cemetery is on land that had belonged to David & Susan. I have made many visits back to Bledsoe and Sequatchie Counties to try and find as much information as possible. I have found children of David & Susan and followed them through census records.

      Children I found for Gilbert & Amanda, were,

      Susan Minerva, (married George Apperson/Epperson)
      James K,
      Susan Silvany) I never found that she married),
      Elizabeth "Betsy", (married James Lafayette Smith)
      John M, had two wives and I have been in touch with one of his descendants)
      Mary "Polly" (married Thomas Wyman who was killed by a kick from a horse or mule. They had one son John Thomas Wyman). Mary/Polly married second to Adam Clemons). and G W, a male.
      I could not find any info on James K or G W. Several months ago I did find a death date for a G. W. Smith in Marion, County. I can't remember the exact year, however, he was about the age to be G. W...
