- He was the son of Rev. Isaac & Talitha (Cloud) Cantrell. He grew up in that big valley of Virginia and married there shortly after the Revolutionary War.
He moved his family to North Carolina and was on the 1800 census there. By the time of the 1810 census they were in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He was recorded there again in 1830 without a wife.
He moved, with some of his grown children, to Caldwell County, Kentucky. His last move was to Indiana where he died in 1833.
He was the father of nine children;

3. Isaac Cantrell (about 1786-?)
4. James T. Cantrell (about 1792-1876)
5. Martin Cantrell (about 1794-1840 to 1850)
