Crossville Chronicle November 30, 1950
The death of Lester McBride of McMinnville, formerly of Cumberland county, came so suddenly that it was shocking to his old friends and neighbors.
Mr McBride had been in failing health for months, but no one realized just how serious his condition was until the fatal hour. He had left his home on Friday, going to Florida to rent a home to take his family to. He was accompanied by a neighbor, Mr Thompson, who reported that Mr McBride drove over 100 miles before he became ill.
When Mr Thompson noticed something was wrong, he asked Mr McBride if he shouldn't stop in the next town and see a doctor, but he was told he was used to the attacks and would be alright after a while, asking Mr Thompson to drive for a while.
Mr Thompson noticed he was growing worse fast, and stopped at a filling station and called a physician who rushed him to a hospital where he succumbed within 20 minutes.
He leaves a wife and 4 daughters besides other relatives. Mr McBride was the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs Marve McBride.
