      husband of Virginia Bullington..Alexander served in the CSA in the 8th Tennesee Cavalry (also known as the 13th cavalry), under Colonel George Dibrell.

      According to Alexander's pension application he enlisted in the fall of 1862. He indicated in the document that following the Missionary Ridge battle on or about 25 November 1863, he was cut out on a courier line just after being relieved he was captured and ultimately sent to Rock Island Prison in Illinois. While there he contracted small pox. He was released from Rock Island prison in June 1865.
