- Biography
Birth: Aug. 14, 1856 Tennessee, USA Death: Mar. 18, 1937 Perrin Jack County Texas, USA
William Henry was a son of son of John G. & Martha (Biles) Brown.
Henry lived with his family in Howe, Grayson Co, TX before moving to Jack County. In 1890 Howe had a population of 450, a steam gristmill, a Farmers' Alliance Cooperative, and Baptist and Methodist churches, as well as a number of hotels, doctors, druggists, and barbers.
"William Henry Brown (known as "Uncle Henry" to folks in the Perrin area), was born August 14, 1856. He married Mollie Marie Hennessee who was born September 6, 1858. Henry moved to Jack County from Grayson County because the ground looked so rich and fertile.
They moved to Perrin in 1915. Henry was a farmer/rancher and Mollie was a homemaker. Henry never drove a car but he wanted his "little queen," Mollie to have anything that she wanted, so he purchased a Model-t. He rode with her but only with the door open and his foot on the running board.
Mollie was so small in statue, 4"11", as Henry was tall, about 6". She is mostly remembered for never saying anything bad about anyone, always finding something good about them, even if it was minor. Henry was known being the town alarm clock! Every morning at 4:30 a.m., he would go out the back door and holler "ya-hoo" and he could be heard clear across town. Henry died March 18, 1937 and Mollie died February 19, 1939. . . . "[1]
