- Franklin D. Cantrell, 76, a native of Huntsville, died at his home on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Mary Ann Crutcher Cantrell. He is also survived by his daughter, Wendy Lynn Cantrell of Madison; Son, Franklin D. Cantrell Jr. and wife Susan Cole Cantrell of Madison; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emma; a brother, Wendell "Rod" Cantrell; sister-in-law, Nancy Cantrell and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Myrtle Cantrell; Brothers, Willie Green and Eddie Ray; Sisters, Geraldine, Kitty Foyle, and Robbie Christine.
Frank served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later retired from civil service at Redstone Arsenal after more than 35 years, working in the Army Missle Command. He also served as a minister of the churches of Christ in North Alabama and Central Tennessee for over 40 years. Frank and Mary Ann are members of the West Huntsville church of Christ.
The family will receive friends tonight (Thursday) from 6 until 8pm at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville. Funeral services will be Friday at 1pm at the West Huntsville Church of Christ. The body will lie in state an hour before the service begins. [2]
