Rocky River Baptist Church, Warren Co, Tennessee
1828 Membership List, Primitive Baptist Church ... Rebecca Mayfield
Source: Transcription, Madison Co, AR Genealogical & Historical Society Library, Madison County, Arkansas.
Notes: The year 1828 appears to be the year this list was begun, and probably the year the Rocky River Baptist Church was organized. It is possible that all of the above individuals were 'charter members,' or it may be that new members were added to the list over a period of time. At this time, insufficient research has been completed to make that judgement. We do know, however, that the church clerk added later comments to the list: For example, Sally (COMBS) Johnson did not die until 1829 (Goodspeeds' History of NW AR, p. 1097), the same year her widower, Martin JOHNSON, married Mary (WARREN?) Hawk (Polly JOHNSON), and Mark MITCHELL died 18 Apr 1838 (RW Pension File S38947).
We are attempting to create on these pages an annotated copy of the above list, and encourage researchers whose ancestors are listed above to submit genealogical data to 1828 RR Church Gen (Also note that we are seeking copy of the original in order to post a certified transcription). The following is a "bare-bones" beginning toward a complete annotated copy:
