Sampson and Nathan Braswell were chain carriers for Matthew Sellers when his 100 acres on Dry Fork of Smiths Fork were surveyed on 25 April 1832.

Page 125, Entry No. 3554 dated 31 October 1832 surveyed for James M. Hill 100 acres on the west side of Dry Creek waters of Smiths Fork, adjoining William Bates. Surveyed 17 October 1836. Wm. Braswell and Leroy Braswell, SCC. This entry called for including the old Leach improvement but is prevented by a line of an older survey of Wm. Bates. The above survey was transferred to Sampson Braswell.
Will T. Hale, History of DeKalb County [Tennessee] (McMinnville, TN: Ben Lomond Press, 1915, reprinted in 1969), page46, Samson {sic} Braswell appears as a customer of Abraham Overall who was a distiller. No date was given for Sampson's account, but dates for other customers mentioned were 1841 and 1844.
