  • Notes
    • This is a UNDOCUMENTED burial, as no headstone has been found. There are two fieldstone markers right next to and in the same row with her eldest son William and his wife Mary and her mother Dorcus Ezell. These two stones may be the markers for Jemima and her husband John.

From SPARTANBURG COUNTY Equity Court, Box 21, pkg.3, we learn she is the daughter of William Turner and granddaughter of John and Rebecca Turner. She was married about 1799 to John Parris.

In Aug. 1819 she ran into a little trouble with the law. She was accused of Assualt and Battery upon constable, Nimrod Horten, when he tried to rescue some property he had executed. In the spring term of 1820, she was found guilty on four counts.

Buck Creek Church records list her as dead in 1855.

Click on letter at right. From the center of page, "Grandfather Robt. Parris", down it talks about John & Jemima and their children.
