Jane Warburton was born circa 1527 (est: her marriage settlement dated 20 January 1539, says Jane was 12).[1]
Jane was the daughter of Sir Peter Warburton[1] aka Sir Piers Werburton of Werburton and Arley, and his wife, Elizabeth Wynnington, the daughter and finally sole heir of Richard Winington of Winington, esq.[2]
Jane was the sister of:
Anne, born 1 May 1527, buried at St Patrick's, Dublin, on 18 January 1573, married 1539 at London, sir Edward Fitton of Gawsworth, kt;[2]

Jane outlived both her husbands as Sir William Brereton died, under 40 years of age, on 26 August 1559,[1] and Sir Lawrence Smith died on 23 August 1582, and was buried at St Bride’s, Chester.[6]
"Dame Jane Smythe widow late wief of Sr Lawrence Smyth in the countie of Chester Knight deceased", as she styled herself in her will dated 6 August 1590, was somewhat disseased in bodye but whole in mynde and left bequests to family members:[3]

her son William, created Lord Brereton of Leigfalin in Ireland, gets beddings and napery and linens from Brereton, and her plain velvet gown, etc, and first choice of one of her rings with stones in them with exceptions, and her prayer book covered with massye gold to be an heirelowme unto his howse and to be worne by the ladye or Mistress of the hall of Brereton ... and first to be enjoyed and possessed by that shall happen to be the wief of him that my saide sonne shall make; and in 1590, her son William had no sons and two daughters:

Lady Jane Smyth was buried on 6 September, 1590, at Wybunbury St Chad,[7] and her will proved 27 September 1597.[3]
