Virginia E. Cunningham
Funeral for Virginia E. Cunningham, 84, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Jones, pastor, Cameron Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Cunningham died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at a local care center.
She was born June 30, 1922, in Oneida, N.Y., to Elmer and Hazel Avery Potter. After her mother's death, the family moved to Lawton. She grew up and attended school in Lawton, graduating from Lawton High School in 1942. She worked at Herman's Studio and Pure Ice Cream Store. She married James H. Cunningham on Sept. 18, 1948. She retired at Fort Sill in 1987 after 28 years of civil service, as a photo lab technician, developing pictures for the Army. She was a member of Cameron Baptist Church and Eastern Star Chapter No. 514.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law: Donald Atkinson, Geronimo, Jimmy and Donna Cunningham, and Jerry and Kelli Cunningham, all of Lawton; three daughters and son-in-laws: Marilyn and Mike Harris, Janice and Roger Fentress, and Jackie and Mardie Bell, all of Lawton; 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Marvin and Cindy Keen Jr., Memphis, Tenn., Jennifer and Jaime Calderon, Van Nuys, Calif., Donald and Kelly Atkinson Jr., Oklahoma City, Travis McCoy, Viki Keen, Springfield, Mo., Madison and Hayleigh Bell, Matthew Cunningham, Caitlin Cunningham and Allie Cunningham; 10 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judi Keen; a granddaughter, Ruth Ledbetter; and a brother, George Potter.
Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
