Morganton, N.C. - Mrs. Helen Allen Williams, 83, of Morganton, went to her Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at her residence after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Williams was born March 13, 1925, in Clyde, to the late Ben and Lucy Hawkins Allen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hal T. Williams.
Surviving are two daughters, Johnese W. Avery and husband, Jim, of Morganton and Harriette W. Pointon and husband, Gary, of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Hal Williams II and wife, Wanda, of Morganton; and three brothers, Jerry Allen and Clyde Allen, both of Clyde, and Bob Allen of Frostproof, Fla. Also surviving are five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was a faithful member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church, formally serving as a Sunday school teacher and circle member. She retired from Western Carolina as a cottage parent.
The funeral service for Mrs. Helen Allen Williams will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Denton officiating. [1]
