Notes |
- Thomas Newman, Jr. was born in Richmond County, Virginia, and was the only son of Thomas, the immigrant.
He is frequently mentioned in the records of Richmond County, Virginia, and by will and descent acquired nearly all the Newman property in the Northern Neck. He sold land on the north side Moratico Creek to John Tarplay on the first of January 1700, and this deed shows he lived on Sittenbourne Parish, probably on the place given him by his father, and recites that the lands conveyed were given to him by Captain Alexander Newman (a first cousin) in his last will and testament.
Thomas Jr. married Bridgett Wilson, daughter of Elias and Susan Wilson, and their known children were Alexander, George and John (twins) and Thomas III.
Children of Thomas Newman and Bridgett Wilson are:
Sarah Newman, b. Aft. 1670, Virginia.
Mary Newman, b. Abt. 1677, North Farnham, Richmond, Virginia, d. Dec 12, 1734, Richmond, Henrico, Virginia.
+Alexander Newman, b. 1678, Rappahannock, Virginia, d. Abt. 1760, Culpepper, Virginia.
George Newman, b. 1681, Rappahannock, Virginia, d. 1734, Richmond, Virginia.
John Newman, b. 1681, Richmond, Virginia, d. 1759, Richmond, Virginia.
Thomas Newman, b. 1688, Rappahannock, Virginia, d. 1791, Warren, North Carolina.
