      Edna Henley, granddaughter of Joseph, says that the family tradition is that Joe's mother was an Irish girl who immigrated to Tennessee. Joe was her only issue and nothing else is known about her.

      According to granddaughter, Molly, JH abandoned his wife during her pregnancy and went to Oklahoma.

      He is mentioned as grandfather for Mary Jane Hennessee's infant death in Okemah,Okfuskee Co.,OK, Dec. 24, 1910.

      Noted in 1880 White County Census as living next door to his wife's people.

    • Joseph H Hennessee, 87 Years old, who resided in Smelterville, died at 7:30 o'clock Friday night at Southeast Missouri Hospital where he had been a medical patient since Monday. The body was taken to the Lorberg Funeral Home. Burial was made this afternoon at Fairmount Cemetery.

      Born Jan 1, 1861, at Sparta, Tenn., he first lived here from 1925 to 1943. In 1943 he returned in Sparta where he lived until about three months ago when he move back to Cape Girardeau. His wife passed away a number of years ago.
