Notes |
- The earliest record found of John Hansard is from a deed made out to him in 1763 by his step-father, Zachariah Ellett in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
John Hansard appears paying his tithe in Buckingham County in 1773.
In October 1779 a deed showing land sold to John Hansard. He purchased 70 acres of land from Miles and Nathaniel Burford on Bollings Creek in Amherst County. This creek today is called Williams Creek and is located near present day Madison Heights, Virginia, just across the river from Lynchburg, Virginia.
From the Amherst County Deed Book: 24 Feb 1780 Jno. Hansford to Jno. Henry Goodman, 70 ac. on Bollings Creek. Lines of Burford (Buford), Jno. Lynch
