COODY SERVICES CONDUCTED TODAY
Services for Joseph Turner Coody, 83, who died of a heart ailment Wednesday in an Oklahoma City hospital, were scheduled at 3 o'clock this afternoon in the Letitia Baptist Church. Guy Swanson, former pastor and longtime friend of the family, will officiate. Mr. Coody entered the Oklahoma City hosital last Saturday night following an extended illness. He lived for 30 years on a farm 13 miles east and 2 1/2 miles north of Lawton. He was born in Limestone Co., Texas on Feb. 19, 1867. In 1886 he married Minerva Myers in Hill Co., Texas and they moved to Love County, Oklahoma in 1890. The couple came to this area in 1907. Mrs. Coody died here in 1924. In 1930 he moved back to Hill County to farm before retiring in 1938. He visited with his sons after retirement. Survivors are five sons, Edward E. and Homer E. Coody, east of Lawton. Grover C. of Purcell Ok., Roy K. Coody of Alamosa Co., and Joe C. Coody of Ontario Ca; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Letitia Cemetery beside the grave of Mr. Coody's wife under the direction of Ritter Funeral Home. [3]
