Austin James Hennessee, 9, of Knappa, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, in Knappa.
He was born June 4, 2002, in Riverton, Wyo., to Karl Wayne and Tawnya Marie (Atkins) Hennessee. His parents survive, residing in Knappa.
The family moved to Northern California from Wyoming, then to Knappa in September 2009. Austin was a third-grader at Hilda Lahti Elementary School in Knappa. He was active in wrestling and received four gold medals. He also received a special award from the state of Oregon after taking the OAKS Achievement test.
Family members said his hobbies included camping, playing in the woods and video games.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Kasey Hennessee of Knappa and Katlyn Hennessee of Redding, Calif.; and a brother, Kevin Hennessee of Knappa.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 451 34th St. A reception will follow at the church

Youth wrestlers from Knappa, Astoria, Warrenton, Neah-Kah-Nie, Illwaco, Wash., and Yamhill-Carlton gathered in Knappa Saturday for a tournament dedicated to Austin Hennessee, who died last November on U.S. Highway 30. Knappa Kids Wrestling sponsored the event for ages 5 to 14. [2]
