  • Notes
    • Elizabeth Byars was the former Elizabeth Blansengame(this name spelled many different ways) Her father was Thomas Blasengame and her mother was Mary "Molly" Rountree (Roundtreee) See the Bio for her husband Nathan Byars. Errors on the tombstone is the L. in front of Nathan's name. The maiden name of Womack for his wife. While it does seem that Elizabeth was very young to marry, remember most women, then and now, did not want to give her age to anyone.

    • I have just found the marriage license for Nathan Byars and Elizabeth Blansengame. I have secured documents, one a lawsuit where the proven mother of Elizabeth Blansengame (name spelled many different ways) and her siblings filed a law suit against their mother. Elizabeth's mother was Mary aka Molly Rountree who married Thomas Blasingame. Mary's father was Turner Rountree and he left a will in Spartanburg Dist NC in which he LOANED his daughter Molly Blasengame some slaves. She was not to sell the slaves but at her death the slaves and their increase were to be sold and the money divided between her children. He then left her and her husband Thomas Blasengame one shilling. The Law Suite names all the children and gives the name of the husbands of the females.

Note: The maiden name of Elizabeth Byars was Blansengame [6]
