Notes |
- 10 Oct 2009:
Hi Roy,
I am a Tenn. Simons related to your Archibald Simons line, and live in Warren Co. where he lived and raised his 7 children. My records are very limited, but will be glad to share with you what I do have. His youngest child was also named Archibald, born in 1845. His second child, the only daughter, was Saraphina Simons, who was my great, great grandmother. Her only child was Andrew Jackson Simons, born in 1850, was born out of wedlock, father unknown, thus her descendants also carried the Simons name.
He was born 24 Jan 1800, died 11 April 1863. Buried in warren co. Tn at Shellsford Cemetery, in the old back section, closest grave to the fence. His two wives are beside him. He was married 1st to Christianna Moore about 1826, daughter of Thomas and Rebecca (Stepp) Moore.
They came from Green Co. N.C. She was born 9 Aug 1811, and died between 1850 and l860. Christianna had two brothers who were preachers in the area of McMinnville for years.
Patrick Moore was pastor of Laurel Creek Bapt. Church for fifty years. James Moore went to Cookeville, Tn. in 1871 and established 1st Bapt. Church.
As I said before, my records are very limited, and you may already have this information. If not, feel free to email me, and I will be glad to send you what I do have, including the story of Archibald's going to Calif. during the 1849 gold rush.
My email address is peggyjoyce@blomand.net
