Notes |
- John married a Native American named Pamela Collins in 1780. She was born in 1758.
In March, 1778, John owned 200 acres of land on the fork of Byers Creek in Lincoln Co., NC and 60 acres in Shoal's Creek of Broad River in Tryon County.
John was a Tory, and as a loyalist to the King, served in the British Army at the Battle of King's Mountain in October 1780.
In the book, "King's Mountain and Its Heroes" by Lyman Draper, the story of the four Logan brothers is discussed. It is of interest due to the fact that the family was evenly divided, with two brothers, William & Joseph, fighting as Whigs and the other two, John & Thomas, fighting as Tories (Loyalist to the King).
In the census of 1790 in York Co., SC, John Logan was living alone in the Salisbury district. He is said to have died as a "pauper" or without land as a result of being on the losing side of the war.
Known children:
Mary Anne "Passy" Logan, b. 1782 Sp., VA, m. John Byers
Larkin Logan, b. 1786, Sp., VA, d. July 14, 1824 NC, m. Frances "Fanny"
