      SARAH CALDONIA"DONNIE" PINNELL RUFFNER YARBROUGH

      Sarah Caldonia (most people called her "Donnie") Pinnell and Charles Henry Ruffner married and had their the following children, Ora, Kate, Jesse, John and Charles. Charles Henry Ruffner died when the children were young. John her son, worked the farm & the rest of the children were able to continue school. Some time later Donnie married W.G. Yarbrough & they had Pinnell Yarbrough. After Bill and Donnie married they ran a bar in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, then moved back to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and opened a resturant. John Ruffner, her son continued to work Donnie's 120 acre farm near Walnut Ridge until the government took all of the farm to build a Advanced Training Air Base on it. When the "Crash" came, and during the depression they all moved to California. They stayed for a few years, the girls & Charles stayed because they had jobs, but Donnie & W.G. returned to Arkansas with Pinnell. Donnie & Bill decided to farm and lived with John and Opal Ruffner while they were building a house. W.G. was too work brittle and Pinnell (Bill) was not cut out to be a farmer. After a year they gave up farming and turned it all over to Donnie's son John. John farmed it on shares with his mother. Donnie and W.G. moved back in to town (Walnut Ridge, Ark.) and opened a restaurant called "City Cafe". When it was legal to sell whiskey, W.G. had a package store also. At one time they also had a beer joint in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. "Donnie" had a rough life. The Yarbrough's lived in Walnut Ridge, then Hoxie, and after retirement they moved to Springfield, Greene Co. Missouri. Their son Pinnell and his wife Hazel lived there also. They then moved to Springfield, Missouri. After W. G. died, she lived with Lynn and his wife and died in Blytheville, Arkansas.

      NOTE: Information from a letter from John Henry Ruffner (grandson). In possession of Kay Butcher (cousin) 1998-1999. Sarah Caldonia "Donnie" was Kay Butcher's great grandmother.

      LAND: It is unknown how the Pinnell daughters came having farms - was it from John S. Pinnell? Or Claiborn Pinnell and handed down?
