"The Alex Tribune, Alex, Grady Co., OK, Thursday, July 10, 1941" -
"George Wood Passes On Last Saturday - George Washington Woods, 96, passed away at nine o'clock Saturday morning at the home of his son, Marvin Woods, where he has resided the past year. Mr. Woods suffered a stroke of paralysis Wednesday evening and had since grown rapidly worse.
He was born March 10, 1845, in Tennessee, later moving to Texas, where he was united in marriage to Jane Temple, who passed away in 1915. To this union was born five children.
He has resided in Oklahoma since the death of his wife. Funeral services were held at Pecan Cemetery near Lawton, at 2 P.M. Sunday with interment at the Pecan Cemetery.
He leaves to mourn his loss four daughters, Mrs. Mattie Harrison of Lawton, Mrs. Emma Washington and Mrs. Brewer of Leon, Oklahoma, Mrs. Alice Sosbie of Garland, Texas and one son, Marvin Woods of Alex, three brothers, Isaac, Joe and Hector, all of St. Jo, Texas." [1]
