- Margaret Carswell MORGANTON
Margaret Hennessee Carswell, 97, of Shelby, formerly of Morganton, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011. She loved her husband, her family and friends, and above all, the Lord Jesus Christ. She was born in Burke County on June 19, 1914 and was a daughter of the late Robert Avery Hennessee and Flora Newton Hennessee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Millard Carswell, who died in 1994; brothers, Robert, James, Russell, Carl, and Paul Edwin Hennessee; and by sisters, Josie Watts, Helen Poteat, Mary Grigg, and Martha Preuss. Mrs. Carswell was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, which she joined in 1938.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Betty Samole, Barbara Preuss, Patrick Preuss and his wife, Gary Grigg, Teresa Grigg, Donald Grigg and his wife, Edith Hennessee Mitchell and her husband, Bob Hennessee and his wife, and David Hennessee; many great-nieces and great-nephews, including Nicholas Samole, Anthony Buchanan, Michael Sherrod, Jon Sherrod, Randy Sherrod, Mary Helen Sherrod Crowder, and great-niece "by heart", Bridgett Condren; and great-great-nieces and nephews including, Jacob, Ethan, Tyler, Zachary, Jackson, Dianna, and Julia.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. John Barnhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at the funeral home, one hour before the service. [3]
