      Morganton, NC --

Everybody plays cards at the Morganton Fire Department and the mascot, Mitt, a Labrador retriever, is no exception. Visitors have been amazed to see the dog crawl up to the table and use a paw to move cards around, imitating the players. The News Herald had a photo of Mitt joining in a game with firemen R.A.”Fat” Hennessee and Ralph White. Hennessee said Mitt is not such a smart dog, because they beat him almost every time.
