      (This might be Isaac’s daughter Martha residing with Sparkman family. Her aunt Sarah E. Dodson (1835-1819) (sister of Isaac) marries Thomas Sparkman in 1860 – still working on relation to FB Sparkman.)

      The aunt Sarah E. Dodson/Sparkman can be traced to father William “Bucky”, still working on proof of Isaac traced to William “Bucky”.

      No 1870 Census for Isaac Dodson has been found, but there is an 1870 Census (District 4 Smith, Tennessee) for who could be his son James Dodson with his wife and first child William (Ages 22, 25, and 1). It is this James Dodson who I track to be my 2nd great grandfather. Living with James are Mollie (14) and Thomas (10). No relationships are provided on the 1870 Census.

      These could be a brother and sister of James (Isaac’s children). Others list Julia as nicknamed Mollie.

      Thomas could have been born after the 1860 Census was taken and would be in keeping with their child every 2 years routine.

      In this same 1870 Census, James is living in the dwelling next to Moses and Elizabeth Burns and their son Lemuel. These are the parents and brother of his wife Elizabeth “Bettie” Susan Dodson.

      Lemuel Burns later marries Rachel (Buckell) Dodson (daughter of Isaac and sister of James). See below regarding the 1880 Census where Isaac and Isabella are living next to Lem and Rachel Burns.

      Note that in the next dwelling in the 1880 Census there is Rachel Burns age 21 (match 1860) She is married to Lem Burns who was residing next to three of Isaac’s children in 1870 Census (see note above).

      From this point I can trace myself back to James R. Dodson/Dotson through Census, Marriage Records, Birth and Death Records, family bible, etc. without referring to anyone else’s trees.

      Below is my direct line. I have most of the spouses, brothers, sisters and children along the way. By my accounting:

      Isaac/Isaiah Dotson/Dodson - Isabel Means (they have 11 children)
      James R. Dotson/Dodson – Elizabeth “Bettie” Susan Burns (they have 3 children)
      Williams Chambers Dodson – Mary Lester (they have 7 children)
      Mabel Dodson – Ivey Hugh Hill (Mabel has only 1 child)
      Woody Hill – Merle Bulger (they have 5 children – only my sister’s grandson will continue the line)
