A native and lifelong resident of Athens, he was the son of the late Floyd Hennessee and Minnie Swafford Hennessee and was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Edna Marie Cranfield Hennessee; daughter, Rita Faye Hennessee McAmis; sisters, Ophia Hennessee Hampton and Effie Hennessee Boles. Grover retired from Thomas & Betts in Athens after 30 years of service. He was a Deacon for over 60 years and was a member of Rockview Baptist Church, Niota, TN.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law,
Dean Hennessee McCosh and husband, Larry of Niota
Ann Hennessee Goins and husband, Larry of Athens
One son and daughter-in-law,
James Hennessee and wife, Kathy of Niota
Grandchildren,
Stacie McCosh Akens and husband, Dave of Niota

Eric Goins and wife, Maycie of Athens
Kevin Goins and wife, Allison of Athens
Brent McAmis and wife, Regina of Georgia
Paige Hennessee of Athens

The family would also like to make special mention of two other men. Mr. Hennessee served as a Deacon for 47 years with Ronnie Sneed of Athens. They were friends for many years and served their church family well.
A nephew, Clifford Hampton, was a special friend to Grover and employed him on the Hampton farm after retirement for 15 years. Anyone who knew Grover knows that was a special blessing because he had to be working all the time. Thank you Ronnie and Clifford for being such special people.
Funeral services will be 7 pm Thursday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Jackson and Jeremy Sneed officiating. Burial will be 11 am Friday in Valley Road Baptist Church Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers with great grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends 4-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
