      "Byars, John L. (Byus) d. by Mar. 25, 1857 as shown in suit of Nathan Byars et al. vs James Gordon et al. Mary, widow of sd John L. is to have dower. James Gordon was admin. Warren County, Tennessee Court Minutes 2/19 - 201. Land was sold & title divested out to Nathan Byars, Martha Byars, John Titsworth and wife Elizabeth, James Gordon and wife Jane, Mary the wd, Drucilla Byars, Harrell Byars, Joseph Byars, James Byars and Mary Byars, Jr.

      p. 246:

      Nathan Byars appointed guardian of Mary, Harrell, Joseph G. and James K.P. Byars by the County Court of Shelby Co.,MO, Oct. term 1858. The money to sd heirs as well as share to sd Nathan is to be paid to John S. Spurlock for remittance to State of MO."
