- McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Avo Hennessee Pelham Billings, age 84, was born June 9, 1924 and died July 31, 2008 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A homemaker and of the Baptist faith, she was the daughter of the late A.C. and Lillie Hillis Hennessee. She was married to Artis L. Billings who preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Melissa Carol and Jerry Green of Rock Island, TN and Jackie and Brenda Pelham, Rose Mary and Kenny Duncan and Becky and Carl Green all of McMinnville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hassie Wright of Doyle, TN and LouEva McBride and Agnes Wilson both of McMinnville; brother, Clifford Hennessee of Sparta, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 in High's Chapel. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory [2]
