 | Civil War Compatriots John A. Cunningham (1841-?) & Archibald (Hennessee 1821-1884) at the end of the Civil War. John was a corporal, Archibald a private during the war. The old weapon (looks like a Colt) was retained by the Cunningham family. They brought it to Texas and the Oklahoma. It was last seen in the home of Nellie (Hennessee) Cunningham in the early nineteen-forties. Information and photo courtesy of Alford Truman Hennessee and submitted to this website by Sue Tiffany, May 27, 2015.
There doesn't appear to be any known kinship between these two, however, DNA tests does suggest a kinship between these two families...DAH

 | Coley's Chapel
is located in Halifax, Yorkshire, England where Reverend Richard Denton was its Vicar about 1635.
The Church was known as the Chapel of Coleye and was possibly dated 1513. It was enlarged and pewed in 1596 and again in 1631 and 1711. In 1711 there had been extensive renovation and reconstruction at both east and west ends of the chapel, which were commemorated by plaques on the stonework. These plaques are still in the clock-chamber in the tower, having been put there in the renovation of 1902.

This is a current image of the house we lived in between 1945-1950, of course, the neighborhood was far nicer then.
The house to the right was the home of my best friend, Paul Elias. Paul's family was Lebanese and completely foreign to me given my Southern culture, i.e., they spoke a different language, they were dark-skinned, had black hair, they displayed their Catholic, religious artifacts, ate tabouli, sucked raw eggs and burned incense sticks...
Upstairs there lived a family called, "?Falk?", whose teenage daughter, "Billie Bea", was probably my first baby-sitter. I remember she retrieved for me an autographed picture of the "Lone Ranger", portrayed by Clayton Moore and I was so excited - wonder what happened to it? Her mother would throw down to me Hershey bars from their upstairs apartment back porch when I was playing in the backyard ... DAH

 | Cousins having fun.. This is one of my favorite photos ever as it brings back so many great memories.
Cousin Kenny & I in Fred's apartment in late summer of 1980. Kenny would visit Fred & me often during the early 80's and we'd rip-up Palm Beach and its environs.
Fred took the photo ... little did we know that he'd be gone 5 years later.
Thanks to Cuz Kenny for sending this snapshot of our lives...

 | Croft Castle, Mortimer's Cross, Herefordshire, England
17th great grandfather of the grandchildren of Vernia Swindell Byars (1894-1985)
The castle was involved in the battle of Mortimer's Cross in 1461 when Sir Richard Croft (1427-1509) set forth from it with his soldiers towards the battleground a few miles away. A decsendent of Sir Richard fought for King Charles at Stokesay in the 1640's during the English civil war and, following the eventual Royalist defeat, Croft Castle was slighted to render it incapable of further military service.

"Dear David,
While going through my mother's photo album I found these pictures taken August 1973. I remember their visit, your dad was having a severe bout with bronchitis.
Spoke with cousin Pearl the other day. She told me about your wife's passing. So sorry. May God bless you.
Sincerely,
Cousin Joe"
