burial effigy of William Longespee, 3rd Earl of Salisbury (1176-1226)

was an English noble, primarily remembered for his command of the English forces at the Battle of Damme and for remaining loyal to King John. His nickname "Longespée" is generally taken as a reference to his great size and the outsize weapons he wielded.

He was an illegitimate son of Henry II of England. His mother was unknown for many years until the discovery of a charter William made that mentions "Comitissa Ida, mater mea" (Countess Ida, my mother).

Located in Calverley, Yorkshire, England. The Calverley family settled in Calverley in ancient times and remained for several hundred years. Significant portions of the house have unusually escaped alteration and modernisation in later centuries. The oldest section of the property is the solar, believed to be of 14th-century origin. The great hall, which has an interesting 6-bay hammerbeam roof, and the chapel have been dated to 1485–1495. Later additions include an accommodation wing added in the early 16th century by Sir William Calverley to house his very large family.

Catherine Howard (c.?1523 - 13 February 1542) was Queen of England from 1540 until 1541, as the fifth wife of Henry VIII.[a] Catherine (then 16 or 17) married Henry VIII (then 49) on 28 July 1540, at Oatlands Palace, in Surrey, almost immediately after the annulment of his marriage to Anne of Cleves was arranged.

Catherine was stripped of her title as queen within 16 months, in November 1541. She was beheaded three months later, on the grounds of treason for committing adultery while married to the King.

Coley's Chapel

is located in Halifax, Yorkshire, England where Reverend Richard Denton was its Vicar about 1635.

The Church was known as the Chapel of Coleye and was possibly dated 1513. It was enlarged and pewed in 1596 and again in 1631 and 1711. In 1711 there had been extensive renovation and reconstruction at both east and west ends of the chapel, which were commemorated by plaques on the stonework. These plaques are still in the clock-chamber in the tower, having been put there in the renovation of 1902.

Continental Drive, Detroit, Michigan
Continental Drive, Detroit, Michigan

This is a current image of the house we lived in between 1945-1950, of course, the neighborhood was far nicer then.

The house to the right was the home of my best friend, Paul Elias. Paul's family was Lebanese and completely foreign to me given my Southern culture, i.e., they spoke a different language, they were dark-skinned, had black hair, they displayed their Catholic, religious artifacts, ate tabouli, sucked raw eggs and burned incense sticks...

Upstairs there lived a family called, "?Falk?", whose teenage daughter, "Billie Bea", was probably my first baby-sitter. I remember she retrieved for me an autographed picture of the "Lone Ranger", portrayed by Clayton Moore and I was so excited - wonder what happened to it? Her mother would throw down to me Hershey bars from their upstairs apartment back porch when I was playing in the backyard ... DAH
