1. Isabella "Ibbie" Roberts was born on 9 Nov 1809 in Knox County, Tennessee; died on 14 Oct 1880 in Sherwood, Franklin County, Tennessee.

Notes:

This William Roberts was actually the 4th generation of William Roberts in his family line. His father was also named William Roberts, born abt. 1693 in Connecticut and married to Mary Vaughn. His grandfather was also named William Roberts and he was born before Sep. 4, 1664 in Milford, New Haven, CT. (husband of Elizabeth Lobdell). William's great grandfather was also named William Roberts and he was born abt. 1617 in Hertfordshire, England (wife Johanna).

We are told that this William Roberts (William the 4th) was married to Isabel Graham, daughter of Nathaniel Graham and Margaret Codry, on Feb.14,1767, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. However there do not appear to be any marriage records that survived for that time and place (according to the Somerset County, PA. GenWeb website). So if that is correct the date and place must have come from family records (family Bibles).

Adding to the doubt on this date for their marriage is the fact that their first born child, Mary Roberts, was born in September 1768, in Rowan County, North Carolina.

Their second known child, Henry Graham Roberts, was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee in May of 1773. And their next six known children were all born there in Sullivan County, Tennessee as well (Rachel b. July 1775, Margaret b. Dec. 1777, David b. Jan. 1780, William the 5th b. July 1782, John b. Oct. 1784, and Graham b. March 1787). Their youngest known child, Isabella, was born in Feb. 1790, in Hawkins County, TN.

William married Isabella Graham on 14 Feb 1767 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Isabella (daughter of Nathaniel Graham and Margaret Codry) was born on 2 Aug 1744 in Monmouth County, New Jersey; died on 15 Jan 1833 in Knox County, Tennessee; was buried in Washington Pike Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Knox County, Tennessee. Wife of William Roberts. We are told that they were married on February 14,1767, in Somerset County,Pennsylvania. However the Somerset County GenWeb website reports that marriage records for that time do not exist. So we have to assume that this alleged date and place of their marriage has come from a Family Bible or other family records.

Isabel gave birth to at least nine children. There may have been others. The following are the children or hers that we do know of (to date):

Henry Graham Roberts b. May 14, 1773 in Sullivan County, TN. Husband of Margaret Forgey

Rachel Roberts b. July 16, 1775 in Sullivan Co., TN., married to John Anderson, on Dec. 28, 1792 in Knox Co., TN.

Margaret Roberts b. Dec. 13, 1777 in Sullivan Co., TN., died in 1797 in Knox Co., TN., married to Andrew Anderson in Knox Co., TN., on Dec. 11, 1797, son of William Anderson and Jane Bryan.

David Roberts b. Jan. 1, 1780 in Sullivan Co., TN.

William Roberts the 5th b. July 1, 1782 in Sullivan Co., TN., married in 1806, in Knox Co., TN., to Elizabeth Anderson, daughter of William Anderson and Jane Bryan.

John Roberts b. Oct. 28, 1784 in Sullivan Co., TN., married in 1807 to Jane Anderson, daughter of William Anderson and Jane Bryan.

Graham Roberts b. March 1787 in Tennessee, d. 1831 in Franklin Co., TN.

Isabella Roberts b. Feb. 2, 1790 in Hawkins Co., TN., married to William Robert Sharp, on March 11, 1807, in Knox Co., TN.
