Comments (Phoebe Minton b. 10 Mar 1819 Tennessee d. 4 Aug 1910 Bledsoe County, Tennessee): I am contacting you regarding Phoebe Minton's parents, Richard and Catherine Minton. My father was from Dunlap, TN, and our line of Mintons is decended from Richard. The little information that I have found regarding Richard is simply that he was from South Carolina. I have never found any documentation to that fact. He does show up on the 1830 Bledsoe County and 1830 Marion County census records. However, there is record of a Richard still in SC on the Pickens County, census. Some say that Richard is the grandson of Thomas Minton, the Quaker from Union, S.C. Others say that Thomas' grandson Richard moved to Alabama and died there. I am hoping you might be able to shed some light on our Richard Minton for me. Thanks, Edward Minton, Joplin, MO.

2. Thomas J. Austin was born on 4 Aug 1849 in Sequatchie County, Tennessee; died on 11 Dec 1923 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee; was buried in Pope Cemetery, Bledsoe County, Tennessee.

i am searching minton's in bledsoe county, tn. i have phoebe's parents as richard minton dob abt 1780 in sc and catherine dob abt 1790 in nc. their children were:

The Richard Minton you are searching for was probably born 3-25-1786. His parents were Thomas & Hannah Minton. All were quakers & Richard and 3 sisters were dis-owned by father for marrying out of "unity". They left SC due to slavery issue.
